The 2026 AFL Finals delivered a finish that Australian football fans will be talking about for years. After a dramatic finals series, the season came down to the Brisbane Lions and Fremantle Dockers at the MCG on September 26. Fremantle were chasing the first premiership in club history. Brisbane were attempting to win a remarkable third consecutive flag. With just over four minutes remaining, Fremantle led by 17 points. The Dockers' famous Wharfie Time celebration began. The bells rang around the MCG. Fremantle supporters could almost touch their first premiership. Then everything changed. Brisbane kicked the final four goals of the match and somehow turned a 17-point deficit into a seven-point Grand Final victory, 96–89. It was an extraordinary conclusion to the 2026 AFL season — and another memorable AFL Finals series for Australian football fans watching from Ubud, Bali. The Lions had turned what appeared to be certain defeat into a seven-point premiership victory. Brisbane Lions Complete the Three-Peat The victory gave Brisbane their third consecutive AFL premiership, completing the 2024, 2025 and 2026 three-peat. The Only Full-Size Shuffleboard Table in Bali Shuffleboard has quietly become one of the most popular things to do in Ubud for a low-key, social night — it’s easy to pick up in under a minute, works well for pairs or small teams, with larger groups rotating between games, and it somehow generates more trash talk per square foot than almost any other game in the building. Spain are world champions once again. The 2026 FIFA World Cup Final ended with Spain defeating Argentina 1–0 after extra time at New York New Jersey Stadium on July 19, 2026. After 90 goalless minutes, substitute Ferran Torres finally broke the deadlock in the 106th minute to give Spain their second World Cup title. For Argentina, it brought their defence of the trophy to an end. For Spain, it completed an extraordinary tournament and added another World Cup to the one they won in 2010. FIFA Here in Bali, the Final kicked off at 3:00 AM WITA on Monday, July 20, turning it into a very late night — or very early morning — for football fans watching from Ubud. Spain vs Argentina: 2026 World Cup Final Result Final score: Spain 1–0 Argentina (after extra time) The scoreline doesn't quite show how much pressure Spain applied throughout the Final. Spain controlled much of the match and repeatedly tested Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez, but the defending champions managed to keep the game scoreless throughout normal time. Argentina's task became even more difficult late in the second half when Enzo Fernández received a second yellow card, reducing Argentina to ten players heading into extra time. Still, Spain couldn't find the breakthrough immediately. Then came the decisive moment. Ferran Torres Scores the World Cup-Winning Goal In the 106th minute, Spain finally found a way through. Pedro Porro delivered the ball towards the far post, Nico Williams headed it back across the area, and Ferran Torres finished first time into the roof of the net. Spain 1–0 Argentina. It proved to be the only goal of the Final. Argentina battled through the remainder of extra time, but Spain held on to become world champions for the second time in their history. Torres, who had come off the bench, was later named the official Player of the Match. FIFA Spain's Road to Becoming 2026 World Champions Spain's path to the trophy wasn't completely straightforward. Their tournament began with a surprising 0–0 draw against World Cup debutants Cape Verde. Sixteen years later, Spain remarkably won their second World Cup Final by the exact same scoreline — 1–0 after extra time. This time, Ferran Torres was the player responsible for the defining goal. By the final whistle, the early start and extra time had turned into a long morning of football—and a celebration for most of the fans watching with us. It sounds simple. Then somebody knocks your best puck off the table. Shuffleboard combines accuracy, strategy and just enough competition to make it a great game between friends. You don't need any previous experience, special equipment or athletic ability to start playing. That's part of what makes it such a good social game. Within a few minutes, almost anyone can understand what they're trying to do. How to Play Shuffleboard In the common Knock Off version of table shuffleboard, each player or team has four pucks. Take turns sliding them toward the opposite end, aiming to finish farther down the table than your opponent without falling off. You can knock opposing pucks off the table or position your own to make the next shot more difficult. Once all eight pucks have been played, only one player or team scores: the side with the puck farthest down the table.
